To work within the Ontario security industry, an individual is required to complete the mandatory 40 hour security guard training.
The online security guard training program is provided by Ontario Security License, our partnered training provider licensed under the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General.
The Ontario security guard training program is available online and can be completed in 35.5 hours.
The online training program is accessible 24/7, which allows you to complete the course on your own time and pace. You can complete your training from home, on your PC, Cell phone or Tablet.
The training program does not expire, you can complete it in 5 days or in 5 months if you wish. You can devote as much or as little time as you need until you have completed all the training modules.
Once you have completed the online security guard training, to be eligible to apply for a security guard license in the province of Ontario, you are also required to have a valid Emergency Level First Aid & CPR Certification. This is a 1 day training program that you must complete in class and is not offered as an online course.
If you currently have a valid Emergency Level First Aid and CPR certificate, you do NOT require to re-certify in First Aid and CPR.
However, if you do not have a valid Emergency level First Aid and CPR certificate, you may complete the 1 day in-class training through an approved first aid training provider such as St. John Ambulance or the Canadian Red Cross for approximately $99. First Aid Training classes are hosted weekly and are available in every major city in Ontario.
Once you have registered for your Online Security Guard Training, you will be contacted by our admin staff with instructions on how to begin your online security guard course.
Should you also require to complete the First Aid training component, our admin staff will follow up and assist you in registering for the First Aid and CPR training component in your city.

Once your course registration is completed, you will receive your Username and Password to begin your online security guard training.
Once you have successfully obtained your Ontario security guard license, you will be enrolled in our employment guarantee assistance program. Your resume will automatically be submitted for review with 45 of our partnered and hiring security guard agencies and private employers in Ontario.

Security Jobs Ontario is a reseller of the online security guard training program provided by Ontario Security License, our partnered training provider licensed under the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General.
STEP 1: Do you qualify to carry a security guard license ?
The first step in the process of obtaining your Security Guard or Private Investigator licence in Ontario is to make sure that you will be able to meet the requirements to obtain a licence.
The requirements are as follows:
• Have completed the required training and testing.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Possess a clean criminal record, according to the Clean Criminal Record Regulation
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
It should be noted that an individual who has been convicted of a Criminal Offence that is not on the list may still be eligible for a licence and should contact the Private Security and Investigative Services Branch (PSISB) to determine if there are any restrictions that should apply.

STEP 2: Complete Your Training Course
Once you have determined that you are eligible to apply for your Ontario Security Guard Licence, the next step is to register for and complete your Ministry Approved training program.
This online training program is provided by Ontario Security License, our approved training partner, a licensed security guard training entity by the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General.
This program covers the required material that you will need to pass the Ministry test before you can apply for your license.
Once you have completed your training requirements, you will be provided with your TCN (Training Completion Number) which you can use to book your Ministry test and complete step three of the licensing process.
STEP 3: Book Your Final Exam
The third step of the process to obtain your Security Guard licence in Ontario is to use your TCN to book and write your Ministry test.
Exam Cost: $35.00 plus 13% HST for a total of $39.55
You may book and complete a test if you meet the following requirements:
The passing mark for the Security Guard exam is 62% (37/60) . When you pass, you can apply for your security guard licence.
If you fail, you can take the test again as many times as necessary, but you must pay the $35 test fee for each attempt.
FINAL STEP: Apply For Your License !
The final step in the process is to apply for your licence by submitting your application to the Ministry.
You can apply for the license online through ServiceOntario or you can print out a hard copy application and send it in by mail.
